Provisioning timeline

## Understanding the provisioning timeline

When you order a dedicated server, there are several stages before it's ready for use. While most standard configurations are provisioned within 24 hours, custom builds or parts constraints can extend the timeline. Here's an overview:

### 1. Order verification & payment confirmation

- Once you place your order and complete payment, the billing team verifies the details and performs anti-fraud checks.
- If there are any issues with payment or required information, you’ll receive an email requesting clarification.

### 2. Hardware allocation

- After approval, your server is assigned hardware from available stock or assembled to meet your chosen specifications (CPU, RAM, storage, RAID, etc.).
- For custom configurations or out-of-stock components, this step may add 1–2 business days.

### 3. Operating system installation

- Your selected operating system (Linux distribution, Windows Server, etc.) is installed on the server along with any requested control panels (cPanel, Plesk, etc.).
- Engineers configure partitioning, RAID, and apply base security hardening.

### 4. Network setup & testing

- The server is connected to the network with the correct IP addresses and reverse DNS entries.
- Network connectivity, port speeds and link redundancy are tested to ensure stable throughput.

### 5. Quality assurance & delivery

- Final checks ensure that all hardware sensors are reporting healthy values, remote management interfaces are accessible, and software updates are applied.
- Once testing is complete, login credentials and server details are sent to you via email or the client area.

### Typical timeframes

- **Standard configurations:** 6–24 hours depending on workload and stock levels.
- **Custom builds:** 2–5 business days if special components or custom RAID cards need to be sourced.
- **Enterprise line:** Often prioritised with the shortest turnaround and immediate hardware replacements when needed.

### Tips to avoid delays

- Provide accurate billing and contact information during checkout.
- Respond promptly to any follow-up emails from billing or provisioning teams.
- For custom builds, confirm hardware availability and lead times with sales before placing the order.

By understanding these stages and timelines, you can plan ahead and ensure a smooth deployment of your dedicated server.
