Cancellations & end-of-service data removal policy
## Overview
Cancelling a dedicated server or VPS with IllusionCloud is straightforward, but there are some important guidelines to follow to avoid unexpected charges or data loss. This page explains how to submit a cancellation request, what happens to your data once the service ends, and best practices for a smooth transition.
## How to cancel your service
- Submit the cancellation via your IllusionCloud client area. Navigate to the service’s management page and select “Request Cancellation.”
- Choose the cancellation type:
- **Immediate** – service and data are terminated as soon as the request is processed.
- **End of billing cycle** – the server remains active until the end of the current paid period.
- Provide a brief reason for cancelling and any feedback that might help us improve.
- Be sure to submit your request at least a few days before the next invoice is due to avoid being charged for the next period.
- If you are moving to another provider, plan the migration before requesting cancellation.
## End‑of‑service data removal policy
IllusionCloud does not retain customer data after a service has been terminated. Once your cancellation is processed:
- The server is powered off and removed from our production environment.
- All data on the server’s storage (including backups stored on the same host) is securely wiped. This process is irreversible.
- Snapshots, ISO images or installation media uploaded to the account may also be purged.
- Our engineers cannot recover your files after the cancellation has been completed. For compliance reasons, we cannot keep your data.
Before you cancel your service:
- **Take backups** – download any files, databases, or configuration that you will need in the future. Consider using an external storage provider or on‑premise storage to secure your backups.
- **Migrate services** – if you are transferring your workloads to another server, ensure the new server is fully configured and tested before cancelling the current one.
- **Verify billing status** – ensure all invoices are paid up to date. Any unpaid invoices may delay the cancellation process.
## Refunds and prorated credits
IllusionCloud services are billed in advance. Once a billing cycle has begun, fees are non‑refundable. Cancelling a service immediately does not generate a prorated credit for unused days. If you wish to avoid being charged for the next cycle, submit your cancellation request before the invoice due date.
## Additional notes
- If you change your mind after submitting a cancellation request, contact our support team immediately. We can attempt to stop the cancellation if the server has not yet been decommissioned.
- For managed services or servers with long‑term contracts, early termination fees may apply. Please check your contract or speak with our billing department.
- If you require official confirmation that all data has been removed for compliance purposes, request a destruction certificate when submitting your cancellation.
