How to Transfer a Domain to IllusionCloud

## Overview

Transferring your domain to IllusionCloud allows you to consolidate billing and management. The process typically takes 5–7 days and requires an Authorization Code (Auth/EPP code) from your current registrar. Before starting, make sure your domain is at least 60 days old, not locked or in dispute, and your contact details are up to date.

## 1. Prepare your domain

- Verify that your contact information (especially the admin email) is correct with your current registrar so you receive transfer confirmation emails.
- Disable WHOIS privacy and unlock the domain in your current registrar’s dashboard. Domains are locked by default to prevent changes.
- Confirm there are no outstanding payments or unresolved disputes; domains registered or transferred within the last 60 days cannot be transferred.

## 2. Obtain your Authorization (EPP) code

- Log in to your registrar’s domain management and request the transfer authorization code (also called an Auth or EPP code). Some registrars let you generate the code in their control panel; others will email it to you within a few days.
- Record the code and keep it secure; you’ll need it to initiate the transfer with IllusionCloud.

## 3. Start the transfer with IllusionCloud

- Log in to your IllusionCloud client area and navigate to **Domains → Transfer**.
- Enter the domain name you wish to transfer and the Auth/EPP code.
- Select the appropriate billing cycle and confirm your contact details.
- Pay the transfer fee (usually includes a one‑year renewal).

## 4. Approve the transfer

- Both your current and new registrars will send email notifications to the domain’s registrant contact. Follow the instructions to approve the transfer.
- Once approved, the transfer typically completes within five to seven days. Monitor your email and domain status during this period.

## 5. After the transfer completes

- Log in to your IllusionCloud dashboard to verify the domain now appears under your account.
- Update your domain’s nameservers and DNS records if necessary to ensure your website and email continue working.
- Enable domain privacy and set auto‑renew to avoid expiration.
- Cancel your previous registrar’s services once everything is working and confirm no residual charges remain.

## Tips

- Avoid changing DNS settings during the transfer to prevent downtime.
- Some country‑code TLDs (such as .uk or .nl) have special requirements or longer wait times for transferring; check your current registrar’s documentation for details.
- If the transfer fails or is delayed, double‑check that the domain is unlocked and the auth code is correct, and contact IllusionCloud support for assistance.
