Custom ISO policy

IllusionCloud provides a library of pre‑built templates for common Linux and Windows distributions. However, we understand that some customers need to install an operating system, hypervisor or software appliance that is not part of our standard catalogue.

Requesting a custom ISO

To provision a custom image, open a support ticket via the client portal and include:

* The direct download URL of the ISO (HTTP/HTTPS). The source must be trusted and free of malware.
* The expected operating system name, version and architecture.
* The MD5/SHA256 checksum or signature so our team can verify the integrity of the image.

Our technical team will retrieve the ISO and attach it to your server through the out‑of‑band console. You can then boot into the image via the remote console and perform the installation. When the installation is complete, remove the ISO from the boot order to avoid boot loops.

Allowed images

Custom ISOs must meet the following criteria:

* You must have the legal right to use and distribute the software (e.g., open‑source distributions, commercial OS licences you own).
* The image must be a bootable installer. Raw disk images, QCOW2, OVA/OVF templates or nested virtualization platforms (Proxmox, ESXi, KVM inside KVM) are not permitted.
* The ISO size should not exceed **10 GB**. Larger files may require a download window or remote copy via SFTP.
* The software must not violate our Acceptable Use Policy (no hacking tools, cryptocurrency mining images, torrent seedboxes, etc.).

Limitations and support

IllusionCloud does not provide support for the installation or operation of custom operating systems. Our responsibility ends at mounting the ISO and ensuring the server powers on and is reachable via the remote console. You are fully responsible for partitioning, installation, kernel configuration, driver support, security updates and software licensing. If the installation fails or the system does not boot, our technicians can only revert to a known good template or re‑mount the ISO; they cannot debug third‑party installers.

Using a custom ISO will **erase all data** on the server. Ensure you have a recent backup of your data and configuration before proceeding. After installation, you must keep the server compliant with our Terms of Service and with any software licence agreements.
