Remote console

## Overview
If you lose network access to your dedicated server or cannot connect via SSH/RDP, the remote console provides out‑of‑band access so you can troubleshoot and manage your server as if you were physically present in the data centre. It operates over our management network and is available even when your primary network interfaces are down.

## Accessing the remote console
- Log in to your IllusionCloud client portal and navigate to your dedicated server’s management page.
- Look for the **Remote Console** or **IPMI/iKVM** section and click the *Launch Console* button. This opens a web‑based KVM session in a new window.
- Depending on your browser security settings, you may need to allow pop‑ups or install a Java/HTML5 plugin. Follow the on‑screen instructions to proceed.
- Enter your console credentials if prompted. These are separate from your server’s root/administrator password.

## Common remote console tasks
Once connected to the remote console, you can:
- View the server’s boot sequence and BIOS/UEFI settings.
- Mount ISO images or virtual media for OS installation or recovery.
- Perform hard resets or power cycles via the virtual power controls.
- Log in to the server’s OS even if the network is misconfigured.

## When to use the remote console
- Network misconfiguration or firewall rules block SSH/RDP access.
- Kernel panic or boot loader issues prevent the server from starting normally.
- You need to reinstall the operating system or access BIOS settings.
- You suspect a hardware fault and need to observe POST messages.

For routine administration over SSH or RDP, the remote console is not required. It is intended for emergency and low‑level access when other methods are unavailable.
