First login: Windows (RDP)
Logging in for the first time (Windows via RDP)
To access your Windows VPS, you need the IP address, username and initial password from your Client Area. Windows virtual machines come pre‑configured with Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) enabled.
Steps to connect via RDP
- Gather your credentials. Retrieve the VPS IP address, username (usually
Administrator) and initial password from the Client Area or welcome email. - Open an RDP client.
- Windows users: Press Win+R, type
mstscand press Enter, or search for Remote Desktop Connection in the Start menu. - macOS users: Install Microsoft Remote Desktop from the Mac App Store, then open it and click Add PC.
- Linux users: Use an RDP client such as Remmina or
rdesktop.
- Windows users: Press Win+R, type
- Connect to your server. In the RDP client, enter the VPS IP address as the computer name. When prompted for credentials, choose Use a different account (if necessary) and enter
Administratorand the initial password. - Accept the security certificate. On first connection, you may see a warning about the remote computer’s identity. Review the details and click Yes to continue.
- Complete initial setup. Once logged in, Windows Server may prompt you to set up network settings or change the password. It is good practice to:
- Update Windows via Settings → Windows Update to ensure the latest security patches are installed.
- Change the
Administratorpassword via Ctrl+Alt+End → Change a password or by opening Computer Management and using the Users section. - Create a separate user account for daily administration and disable remote logins for the built‑in Administrator account.
- Configure the Windows firewall or network security groups to restrict RDP (TCP port 3389) access to trusted IP addresses.
- Disconnect safely. When finished, use Start → Disconnect or click the close button on the RDP window to end your session.
If you cannot connect, verify that your local firewall allows outbound connections to TCP 3389 and that your VPS is powered on. Contact support if you continue to experience issues.
